The Frog in the Well.
Once upon a time, a little frog lived at the bottom of a deep well.
Every day, when it looked up, it could see only a small patch of sky through the opening above.
It believed that this little patch was the whole world.
Then one day, it heard that beyond the well were mountains, oceans, and a sky that stretched as far as the eye could see.
The world was far bigger than it had ever imagined.

Dripping Water Wears Through Stone · Bilingual Listen & Read ·
Dripping Water Wears Through Stone.
Long ago, people noticed something remarkable.
In the mountains, a single drop of water fell gently onto a rock.
Drip, drop. Drip, drop.
The droplet was so small, and the rock was so hard.
One tiny drop seemed unable to change anything.
But the water kept dripping.
Day after day, year after year.
After a very long time, the water slowly wore a mark into the hard stone.
Thinkers in ancient China used this natural phenomenon to share an important lesson:
Although water is gentle, its steady persistence can change even solid rock.
Over time, people came to use the idiom “dripping water wears through stone” to describe the power of perseverance.
Learning a language works in much the same way.
Learn one new word each day. Practice saying one sentence each day.
Each step may seem small, but with persistence, those little steps add up to real progress.
This is the wisdom behind “dripping water wears through stone.”
Small efforts, given enough time, can bring about change.
Is there something you would like to keep practicing, a little bit every day?

Seeing Is Believing · Bilingual Listen & Read ·
Seeing is better than hearing a hundred times.
More than two thousand years ago, during China’s Western Han dynasty, there was an experienced general named Zhao Chongguo.
One year, fighting broke out along the northwestern frontier.
Emperor Xuan of Han wanted to address the conflict, so he asked Zhao Chongguo:
“General, what do you think is happening there? How many soldiers should we send?”
Zhao Chongguo did not rush to answer.
He knew that reports alone could not tell him everything about the situation.
So he said to the emperor:
“Seeing something once is better than hearing about it a hundred times. It is better to see it for yourself.”
He asked to travel to the frontier, see the situation firsthand, and then make a plan.
The emperor agreed.
After arriving at the frontier, Zhao Chongguo carefully studied the land, gathered information about the opposing forces, and considered how to avoid unnecessary losses.
Instead of acting hastily, he made careful judgments based on what he had seen himself.
This is the story behind the saying “Seeing is believing.”
This saying teaches us an important lesson:
Listening to others can help us learn about the world.
But observing, exploring, and experiencing things for ourselves can make our understanding deeper and more meaningful.
Learning a language is much the same.
Beyond hearing people describe a culture, we can read its stories, listen to its sounds, and talk with people who speak its language.
Because every language opens a new window onto the world.
What place would you most like to see with your own eyes, or what culture would you most like to experience for yourself?
